Blog Every Day in May: Day Twenty-Three

Day 23, Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you

I've been in one school or another for the majority of my life (scary thing is, I've spent so many years in school, that I can say this until about 40). While there are definitely things I've learned in school that weren't lifted right from the texbook/lesson, like some social skills and some time management, there's plenty I learned that school had nothing to do with.

Cooking
Sure, there was home ec. but I cant recall actually learning anything other than how to sew a felt bean-bag frog. Everything I learned in the kitchen is either self-taught or straight from my Mama!

Teamwork
Group projects teach you nothing about teamwork, they just reveal who is the least willing to fail and the most willing to work and everyone else who gloms onto that one person's work (although I have had some good group projects in the past, but inevitably theres always one person who's drive is way above everyone elses). Most everything about teamwork, leadership, and putting a greater goal above oneself I learned out on a field, court, pool somewhere.

Service
Church and missions and learning what Jesus taught about loving neighbors as yourself and selfless service is one of the most poignant, lasting and important lessons I continue to learn in this life.

Blog Every Day in May: Day Fifteen

**i will do my best to update this about every hour**
Day 15, Wednesday: A Day in the life (include photos from throughout your typical day - this could be "a photo an hour" if you'd like)

7-8 a.m. (multiple alarms to start)

8-9 a.m. (Morning routine: breakfast, indecisive outfit choices, getting presentable for society in the bathroom)

9-10 a.m. (heading in, listening to some Florence, alone in the elevator)

10-11 a.m. (my work space is sparse because we've spread out into neighboring cubicles that aren't technically part of the leased space so I must be ready to move in case another business comes in)

11 a.m.-12 p.m. (The lovely view my laptop camera sees daily)

12-1 p.m. (although screenshots don't lie, this was at 1:20 but you get my drift)

1-2 p.m. (I already ate my sandwich, but the rest of lunch looks delicious)

2-3 p.m. (my Spotify playlists get me through my workday)

3-4 p.m. (More music a la Spotify)

This was too boring to show, basically typed, and read, and my boss was around so no pictures 4-5 p.m.

I ended up ducking out a bit early (with permission)
5-6 p.m.

6-7 p.m. (my mom has a great garden and I love taking pictures of the flowers!)

Dinner!
I was too hungry to take pictures but you get the idea
7-8 p.m.

The forgotten hour, I got on the computer, started reading blogs & the next thing I knew it was 9 and I had to go play soccer
8-9 p.m.

9-11 p.m. (rec soccer league game at 9:30-11p.m., TOO LATE to play but we won & I had an assist)

11-12p.m. ("working my way back to you, bed" I may or may not have sang that on the car ride home)
